AirGPS II

This is a nice device in many ways, albeit with poor software and some funky behavior. Worst issues are:

1. It will shut off without warning if you are resting or stopped too long, and you will have to restart it & now have two records for one ride.
2. The software is poor, with a low accuracy map where your route runs over the insides of corners, and a speed record graph over time that is mashed-up and not expandable or relatable to the map, and thus pretty much useless, and menus that are very poorly arranged. It should tell you how fast you are going at any point on the map but does not.
3. The text size for the readout varies by the feature, with LCD numbers crowded and decimal point hard to see.
4. The instructions suck.
5. The software is also for Cateye units with an altimeter, so you get to look at empty elevation gain columns even though it lets you enter a start altitude.

Good things: It is well made & good looking, and it snaps into a standard Garmin mount very securely via a $2 adapter from Amazon. In fact it is hard to snap either in or out as the fit is so strong. I have my headlight below and AirGPS on top of one simple mount arm just out in front of the bars, very tidy. The whole device is the change-function switch ie no small buttons to feel for when you are exhausted, you just press down on the top face with your thumb & the button underneath is actuated with a solid, positive-click feel.

It's just a speedo + odometer with GPS, cheapest out there. It will upload to social media apps, I don't bother.

I bought this a few weeks ago because I wanted a simple GPS computer which wasn't the size of a smart phone and prohibitively expensive. So far it is working fine and as expected. I didn't want a map or directions from the computer and the AirGPS II doesn't provide them, but there are two things which need to be addressed to improve the computer.

First there is no elevation gain or loss measurement for the computer. Second it should have a USB-C connection for recharging. These two changes would make this simple GPS computer a much better one. I would buy a new one too if these two things were changed. Another suggestion for Cateye, is to provide a zip tie mounting cradle for the unit, instead of the unsightly FlexTight mount kit.

After less than three weeks it has stopped working.

Not compatible with Wahoo or Garmin front mount. Very
disappointing.
